This weekly class supports students and families wishing for that personal touch with in-person tuition. Learning amongst other students also boosts retention of the key skills!
Y4 11+ Online Live Class
The Y4 Online class is fantastic for families with limited after-school time or those who may not be able to commit to in-person classes every week.
What is the 11+ Grammar Exam?
The 11+ Grammar exam is an optional exam taken by Year 6 students, in the September of that academic year, and it is used to rank students applying for a grammar school place as their Secondary school placement.
Students in Warwickshire and the West Midlands need to take the 11 plus exam set by the West Midlands Consortium, which you can find more about in this blog.
The 11+ exam paper consists of four different elements: maths; English; verbal reasoning (VR) and non-verbal reasoning (NVR).
Being prepared for what will be on an 11+ exam paper is the key to answering with confidence, at speed and fully completing these detailed papers.

This online live class is a weekly lesson that gently introduces skills for the 11 plus preparation. This is ideal for students and families wishing to for expert, term-time support with their 11+ tutor, but who may not be able to travel to in-person lessons each week.
Learning alongside other Year 4 students, in a small class of 6, creates a lovely sense of camaraderie over the academic year and allows the students to learn from one another.
By starting your child's 11+ preparation in Year 4, they will have the chance to 'get ahead' in their 11 plus knowledge, ensuring a more relaxed and gradual progression of the 11 plus skills, ready for Year 5 revision.

FAQs About Y4 11+ Classes

How do I book onto a class?
Simply send an email or complete the booking/waiting list form. I will then promptly be in contact to organise a place for your child on your chosen class.

Will my child miss out on the learning if they can’t attend a lesson?
If your child can’t make the in-person or live online lesson that week there is no need to worry about missing out on learning. Recorded lessons of the learning are provided each week for students to catch up on their own time.

What platform do you use for your live online lessons?
Zoom is used for all live lessons, in my Zoom Teaching Room.

What resources will be needed for the classes?
This would depend on the class, and full details are shared ahead of the class commencing. 11+ classes require the purchase of a small number of CGP books. Sometimes we will use my own resources. These are uploaded ahead of time and downloadable via my student management system.

Will there be homework set each week?
For the Y4 classes, homework is set each half term- as an optional homework pack. This allows students to independently practise the skills and techniques learnt over the previous half-term. No new learning will be set in the homework packs.
Are there lessons in the school holidays?
No live lessons are required for the weekly Y4 11+ classes in the school holidays, allowing students to make the most of their school holidays. Full details of the dates are provided in the class brochures. Notifications of breaks for holidays, are sent out to parents ahead of time.

How do I pay for the classes?
An initial deposit of £50 is paid upon booking to secure your child’s place in the class. This is refundable against the first half-termly payment. Specific payment frequencies are included in each of the course brochures. Invoices are sent via the student/tutor portal system after each payment period, payable by BACS.
Is there a cancellation charge if I wish to cancel my child's place in the class, and do you need notice?
I build strong relationships with all my 11+ families and on the odd occasion that students wish to leave the class, I ask that you kindly give 4 week's notice (and your child is welcome to attend those lessons if they wish).
If I suggest that your child is struggling with the 11+ level work, and therefore that the 11 plus may not be suitable for them, there is no notice period payment required.
